Event description
The Caregiver Readiness Workshop is a day-long, in-person CPR / First Aid certification training with a behavior education component.

About this event

This in-person, day-long workshop will fulfill the CPR/First Aid training certification requirement needed to provide respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities. It will also provide tips, tools and strategies for supporting individuals with the types of behavior and communication challenges that may accompany a developmental disability diagnosis.

This workshop includes:

  • American Heart Association CPR / First Aid training certification (Infant, Child, Adult)
  • Tips, tools & strategies for supporting individuals who have developmental disabilities to support them safely at home, provided by Behavioral Intervention Associates(BIA). BIA provides ABA services (Applied Behavior Analysis) to families whose children are affected by autism and other behavioral and developmental conditions.
  • Agency information for those interested in respite care employment opportunities
  • Lunch will be provided on site.

This workshop is valued at over $100. Thanks to a grant from the Community Emergency Response Volunteers of the Monterey Peninsula (CERV), Special Kids Connect is able to offer this opportunity for only $35 per person with reservation and payment by June 15, 2021. After June 15, the price will be $40 per person.
