Career Ready Breakfast Event

**This free breakfast event is aimed at organisations who are interested in / may be able to, mentor a young person starting Autumn 2020 and offer a paid short summer work placement in 2021 - for young people living in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde or West Dunbartonshire**

Developing the Young Workforce West Regional Group are delighted to support Career Ready as they invite local employers to come along to a breakfast event held at West College Scotland, Paisley Campus - to find out more about the work Career Ready do, and see how easy and rewarding it is to get involved in supporting local young people to flourish into the world of work.

Date: Feb 26th 2020

Time: 8.30-10am (tea / coffee / breakfast rolls from 8.30am)

Venue: West College Scotland, Abercorn Conference Centre room 1, Renfrew Rd, Paisley PA3 4DR

(the conference centre is the red brick building (an old school) - has its own entrance, please do not enter the main campus reception)

The event will highlight the range of ways you can get involved, the benefits of which include offering businesses a way to develop their people, get them involved in their local community and increase awareness of their brand as an employer.

During the morning we will hear from speakers within education, business and local young people about how experiences of the world of work and mentoring have positively impacted them.  There will be the opportunity to gain further insights from one of the team at your table as well as discussing your learnings, interests and fit with your business needs.

Career Ready

We believe that every young person should have the skills, confidence and opportunity to enjoy a rewarding future. That's why we work across the UK to connect young people with the world of work, unlocking their potential, developing their networks and levelling the playing field – boosting social mobility along the way.

Since 2002, we have connected employers with schools to provide young people aged 15-18 with a mentor, a paid internship, masterclasses, and employer-led visits that not only prepare young people for the world of work but also allow them to learn about career pathways and options.

Our network of 2,000+ volunteers from 330+ employers in Scotland is helping to transform the lives of 1,300+ young people in 133 secondary schools.

Proof that the programme works? 98% of Career Ready students go onto a positive destination on leaving school and one-time Career Ready students are now mentors for the programme in their place of employment.

We all play a part in ensuring that young people have the opportunity to enjoy a successful and rewarding future. We are delighted to announce that from September 2020 we are growing our work in Scotland to include Inverclyde, West Dunbartonshire and Renfrewshire. Our aim is to connect lots of local businesses who can make a difference and benefit too, whilst changing young people’s lives.
