Project Management in Humanities
Speaker: Foy Scalf, PhD, Head of Research Archives, Oriental Institute
More information is being generated, curated, and preserved about humanistic collections than ever before. The need to organize, maintain, structure, and share this data has presented great challenges as well as exciting opportunities for those with careers in the humanities. Projects flounder or succeed based on the strength of their vision, leadership, teamwork, and funding. This presentation will focus on managing a “big data” undertaking — the Oriental Institute Integrated Database Project — and how an academic background in the humanities can guide directors in fulfilling a project’s mission.
*A valid UChicago student ID is required to attend this event.*
The Career Lunch & Learn Series is co-sponsored by UChicago Careers in Journalism, Arts, and Media.
