The career landscape is a complicated place - and it’s not obvious how to spend your time and energy to get the things that you want. It’s not even clear to figure out what you want in the first place.

The Career Design Studio is a 3-hour interactive workshop that takes a deep dive into the realities of the modern career landscape, the most useful mental models and frameworks for understanding employer-employee dynamics, and a playbook of highest leverage actions you can take (and tools you can use) to increase your value and get (or create) jobs that you love, while making a great living.

The Career Design Studio is designed and lead by Nathaniel Koloc, co-founder and previous CEO of ReWork, and Director of Talent Acquisition and Development for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Over the last decade, Nathaniel has led engagements supporting hundreds of hiring managers, and has overseen content and programming that has helped tens of thousands of professionals find jobs and plan their career moves effectively. The Career Design Studio is a culmination of his research, work, and learnings from the last decade.


The Studio materials are delivered with the main goal of giving you the tools to find more clarity and confidence for making moves in your career. Studio components include:

  • The best mental model to use to understand the career landscape, and options

  • An accounting of how most people non-strategically conduct job searches and find new jobs, and why this has lead to over 70% of Americans being unsatisfied in work.

  • Details of an approach to career design (including job search) that yields much better results, and compounds over the course of your career to make it easier and easier to get jobs you love. This includes an explanation of how making assumptions is very problematic in job search, and how to avoid falling into that trap.

  • An overview of what it means to be in the top 1% of effective and dynamic modern professionals, in terms of mindsets, skillsets, and grasp of key tools and workflows.

  • A clear roadmap of how to systematically build value for your employer - regardless of what type of role you’re in - and how to use that value to trade for benefits and responsibilities that you want.

  • An effective way to inventory your own strengths & skills, so that you have a baseline from which to make decisions about how to invest in - and market - yourself effectively.

  • A method for mapping your possible career routes, which will inform your decision making now and over time.

  • An overview of how to construct and strengthen a personal brand that will allow you to more easily generate career opportunities.

  • A recommended list of immediate (and ongoing) actions you can take to kickstart or bolster your career strategy, and start getting new results.

  • 45 min of open and candid Q&A with Nathaniel, to cover whatever topics attendees want to discuss.
