Talk Topic: “Three Questions: On Leading with Purpose”
As women and leaders in the workplace, we can and must write our own stories so we can lead authentically and with purpose. How? By asking ourselves three key questions: Who, What and How? Who has influenced you? What impact do you want to have on the world? And, How do you stand by what you stand for?

Sheila founded Care.com in 2006 after her personal challenges as a young working mother finding care for two small children and ailing parents shed a spotlight on the massive care needs of families everywhere. Today, the company is the world’s largest online destination for finding and managing family care, serving more than 26 million people across 20 countries. Committed to building a company that can be both profitable and mission-based, Sheila continues to drive innovation across Care.com’s platforms and services to enable families to find care and caregivers to find meaningful work, while also leveraging the company’s data and reach to drive systemic change across the care economy as a whole. Prior to founding Care.com, Sheila was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Matrix Partners and held executive positions at Upromise, helping families save for college and at executive search engine TheLadders.com. She sits on the Boards of Northwestern Mutual, Boston Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees, the U.S. Library of Congress Trust Fund, and the Philippine Development Foundation. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership and advises numerous start-up companies. Sheila graduated from Mount Holyoke College and received her J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard University.

Dominique Baillet

Dominique Baillet Senior Director, Growth and Product, Care.com

Talk Topic: “How to Monetize Online Marketplaces”
Yes, it’s all about growth. But at some point, you’ve got to make money. Successful marketplaces figure out how to monetize early and set up their marketplace dynamics accordingly – even if they don’t optimize making money until later. In this talk, we will cover how to think about what you give away and what you charge for, how you charge, and who pays.

Dominique joined Care.com in 2017 as Senior Director of Growth and Product Management, where she leads all organic acquisition, editorial, community and enrollment activities. She is passionate about scaling mission-driven organizations and maintains optimistic that businesses can succeed and do good for the world. Her career has spanned industries and functions – across management consulting, education, international development and tech. Dominique received a B.A. from Brown University and MBA from Harvard Business School. [Fun fact: Dominique brought her 3 month old baby to her Care.com interviews – a first for both mom and baby.]

Abbey Stauffer

Abbey Stauffer Director, Product Management, Care.com

Talk Topic: “The Art and Science of Matching” by Abbey Stauffer
Let’s face it… having lots of choices is great, but having too many choices can be overwhelming. Matching helps connect the buyers in your marketplace to the supply that best meets the criteria they’re looking for. Matching challenges exist everywhere, from organ transplants and college admissions to hiring marketplaces like Care.com. In this talk, we’ll discuss how you can leverage data science and other strategies to take the work out of your users’ hands in finding the right match.

Abbey is the Director of Care.com’s Matching experience, where she leads a product team that is evolving how we match the two sides of our marketplace and guide families through the hiring process. Prior to Care.com, Abbey ran the education vertical at FinTech company NerdWallet, where she developed products for college students and recent grads, and served as Sr. Product Manager at InsideTrack, an EdTech company also serving college students. Abbey has a passion for mission-driven companies, continuous learning, and her family of two young boys.

Lauren Lee

Lauren Lee Director, Product Management, Care.com

Talk Topic: “Building Trust in Online Marketplaces”
If you want your users to convert faster and stay longer, then you need to invest in trust building mechanisms. It’s a critical ingredient for all businesses because it gives users the confidence to buy your product – and it’s especially critical for marketplace businesses when you don’t know the person on the other side of the transaction. In this talk, we’ll walk through some of the common mechanisms that marketplaces use to build trust.

Lauren joined Care.com in January 2018 as Director of Product Management, where she leads Mobile and Trust & Safety products. With nearly a decade of experience working in marketplace businesses, Lauren loves getting the flywheel spinning and using her skills at Care.com to empower women. Prior to joining Care.com, she held various product management positions at StubHub and strategy positions at StubHub, Microsoft, and Triage Consulting Group. Lauren received a B.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA with Honors from the Kellogg School of Management.
