Description

CARE-givers Resource Fair

Sustaining an effort to stay physically, emotionally and mentally healthy while caring for another person can be extremely challenging. Long-term caregivers, whether they be parents caring for children with disabilities or adults caring for elderly or ill parents or family members, often need support and encouragement to find ways to take care of themselves. The goal of the CARE-givers Resource Fair is to provide materials and local resources for those who are caregivers and to raise awareness for the need to support the caregivers in our community.

Faith Inclusion Network of Hampton Roads and Kelly's Choice organizations are putting this event together, in partnership with the MacArthur Center. Businesses and organizations related to caregiving support are encouraged to register as a vendor. Vendors tables are free. Tables, table covers and some electrical outlets will be available.

For questions about this new but much needed event for our community, please contact Karen Jackson at 757.282.8000 or faithinclusionnetwork@gmail.com

Vendors at Center Court

Our goal is to have 25-30 vendors related to all aspects of "taking care of the care-giver" set up at Center Court from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. We will advertise the event through our partnering organizations, social media and hopefully television and radio. This effort, in addition to shoppers that just happen to be at the mall, should generate hundreds of visitors to your table.

All vendor tables are free. All materials, handouts and items at your table need to be free as well. Please do not sell items at your table. (As an option, you could have flyers or other materials related to items you sell available to share)

Presenter Schedule at Studio 360

In addition to vendors, there will be several presentations at the Studio 360 on the first floor of the mall, near Dillards. Our event organizers are currently working to secure those presentations.

"Empty Cup to Full Cup: From Exhausted to Energized"

Our intentions are clear and commendable: empower family members, support colleagues, succeed in our role of caregiver, be a dependable parent and/or spouse, and be all things to each person in our life. What gets in the way are compounding deadlines, expectations, personal and professional commitments, endless to-do lists and running the gauntlet of our lives. We want to pour from a cup full of energy, compassion, joy, and purpose, yet our cup is often empty.

A candid conversation about our role in running ourselves ragged, our willingness to stretch beyond comfort zones to better care for ourselves, and how saying no is a step towards empowerment for myself and others.

Join this conversation and learn 3 strategies to shift from empty to full without strengthening your caffeine habit!

1:00-1:45 pm
