We are pleased to announce that the new California Air Resources Board (CARB) Southern California Headquarters in Riverside, California is open, and facility tours are now available.

This is an opportunity to visit one of the world’s most advanced vehicle emissions testing and research facilities dedicated to cleaning California’s air.

CARB’s new 402,000 square-foot headquarters is the largest building designed to be Zero-Net Energy (ZNE) in the United States and has received numerous environmental and architectural awards. It also contains the largest collection of climate and air quality themed public works of art in the world.

The general tour of this acclaimed facility includes:

  1. A tour of the light and heavy-duty testing labs where vehicles and engines of all sizes from weedwhackers and motorcycles to passenger cars and big rigs are tested to ensure they comply with California’s stringent emissions standards. The tour will include 7 light and medium-duty emission test cells; 3 heavy-duty test cells; and 2 motorcycle test cells.
  2. A visit to the state-of-the-art chemistry lab that specializes in analyzing motor vehicle exhaust emissions, evaporative emissions and transportation fuels.
  3. A tour of the art collection featuring 6 major artworks dedicated to climate and air quality.
  4. A visit to the 250-seat public auditorium where the California Air Resources Board meets in Southern California.

Address: 4001 Iowa Ave, Riverside, CA 92507
