Capturing the Value of Green
Event Information
Description
The U.S. Green Building Council Arizona and The Appraisal Institute Present:
Capturing the Value of Green
The mission for hosting this event is to increase the number of educated appraisers in Arizona who understand and give proper value to homes with energy efficient, sustainable features. As energy efficient homes gain in popularity and the variety of certified homes increases, builders should be rewarded with a competent, trained appraiser. Appraisers should understand and recognize these features and give value for those items that lower energy bills and increase the health and comfort of homeowners.
This is the fourth appraiser educational event hosted by the Residential Committee of the U.S. Green Building Council, Arizona Community. These courses provide professional, sought after training not normally available to Arizona appraisers.
The instructor, Sandy Adomatis, Adomatis Appraisal Services, of Punta Gorda, Florida, is the former Vice-Chair of Education for the Appraisal Institute, with over 30 years of experience as an appraiser and educator, and is the go-to person nationally for green education geared toward appraisers.
As well as writing many publications and books, Sandy co-created the Residential Green & Energy Efficient Addendum. This Addendum serves as an attachment to an appraisal when these features are in a home listed for sale. This form is only available on the Appraisal Institute site, not on any real estate related website.
Sandy created five educational offerings on energy efficiency and solar education, of which 2 of these will be taught March 12th and 13th. When all 4 days of courses are taken by a member of the Appraisal Institute, that appraiser is added to the growing list of "green appraisers" to be found by realtors, lenders, underwriters, and other organizations. Adding appraisers to this list raises the bar for home values in Arizona. USGBC volunteers have added 20 names to the list that now numbers 29 appraisers.
Due to the fact we have purchased books for registered attendees, no refunds will be issued after March 2nd .
