Event description

Description

Book CoverThe true story of the hunt for the most dangerous man alive. Come hear the riveting adventure of how gangsters hung out in West Michigan and how an extraordinary manhunt lead to the capture of Fred Burke, the perpetrator of the St. Valentines Massacre.

Author Criss Lyon brings to life this historic event in her book "A Killing in Capone's Playground". Using the never before published police reports, interviews with family members of key witnesses and leading experts, Criss establishes the foundation for gangsters from the onset of the Prohibition Era through the mid-twentieth century, all while revealing new information about the extraordinary manhunt and eventual capture of notorious gangster Fred "Killer" Burke.

Ms. Lyon, a public safety professional and historian, has not only walked the beat she has in fact shot the most famous Thompson submachine gun in the world while researching for this book. Using techniques of forensic genealogy combined with investigative research, Lyon has been able to uncover little-known facts about the people and events surrounding the notorious St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
