Sustainable Practices, the nonprofit behind the Cape Cod Plastic Bottle Ban, is offering an educational opportunity on Cape Cod water. The program, which consists of a four-part series, is free and open to the public with advance registration. Co-sponsors of the Cape Community Water Forum include the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC), the Sierra Club Cape Cod, 350.org Cape Cod, and the BLUE Institute Labs.
The Cape Community Water Forum will kick-off on Thursday, April 8 at 6:30 pm, with Andrew Gottlieb, executive director of APCC, who will discuss the efforts to protect and preserve the waters of Cape Cod with a focus on today’s threats to water quality. On April 15 the second installment in the series will address aspects of municipal water quality, testing, and regulations. The discussion will be facilitated by Dan Pelletier, Water Superintendent for the Town of Harwich. On April 22, Tom Cambareri , hydrogeologist and former Director of Water Resources at the Cape Cod Commission, will address the hydrology of the Cape’s Sole Source Aquifer. Concluding the series on April 29th will be Judith Underwood, chief executive officer of BLUE Institute Labs, who will highlight emerging technologies and solutions to address water quality and protection.
The Cape Community Water Forum will be accessible via Zoom and each event in the series will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 7:30 pm.
