The Grant Readiness 101 Workshop is a part of a multi-course capacity building training series that the Xaris Group provides to small nonprofits and organizations.

The training series are designed to enhance the capacity of nonprofits and organizations in successfully delivering services to local communities. Ultimately the training series are designed to improve long-term sustainiability and overall effectiveness of organizations.

What is the rationale and purpose of the Grant Readiness Workshop?

  • In many cases newly formed nonprofits and start-up organizations believe that articles of incorporation are enough to qualify their organization as being eligible to apply for any and all types of funding. When in reality, this is never the case. There are several critical steps that must be undertaken before an organization is actually ready to apply for funding, ahd this workshop is designed to help organizations better understand both the requirements and expectations of funders across the board. The goal of the workshop is to equip participants with knowledge and skills that will move organizations toward becoming “grant-ready.”

Who Should Attend the Workshop

  • New nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations with little or no experience with grants

  • Small nonprofitsOrganizations with only one source of funding (e.g. donations)

  • Staff size of 1-5 staffing positions

    • Organizations with all volunteer staff
    • Organizations with budgets of less than $50,000 annually
    • Board members and/or organizational staff who are interested in learning more about how the funding proces works

What is the format of the Grant Readiness Workshop?

  • Small classroom-size workshop

Is financial assitance avaialble for organizations that may not be able to afford the cost of the workshop, yet have interest in attending?

  • Scholarships will be awarded to three (3) organizations through a competitive application process. Organizations must apply at

 What other key information do I need to know about the Grant Readiness Workshop?

  • Lunch will be on your own as there are a number of dining options around the training location.

 What is the Cancellation/Refund Policy for the Grant Readiness Workshop?

  • Registered participants will be entitled to a $50.00 refund fee if a cancellation request is initiated more than 10 days prior to the workshop, otherwise NO refunds will be issued for any cancellations requests that are initiated within 10 days or less before the workshop date.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • There is parking provided in the on-site parking deck at the training location. Parking is $8 USD.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

  • No, a printed ticket is not required for the event. The event organizers will have a list of registrants at check-in.

Can I update my registration information?

  • Registrants can update their registration information by directly contacting the organizer.

Is my registration fee transferrable?

  • In the event that a registrant is unable to attend the event organizers will permit registrants to transfer their registration to someone; however the registrant must contact the organizer for approval.
