The Council of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) will host the 2019 CAPA Leadership Summit at Madonna University, located at 36600 Schoolcraft Road, Livonia, MI 48150 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (lunch will be served). CAPA’s mission is to unite Asian Pacific Americans and the community-at-large through culture, education and community service.
This year’s theme is “The Power of Community Service” and will feature:
Keynote Speakers: Andy Levin, U.S. Representative (MI) and Samuel An, Pastor, will kick off the event by inspiring us to reflect on the meaning of community service and the benefits to the community-at-large.
Community Service Brain Trust: we will invite our partner community organizations along with members of various high schools and colleges to put their minds together to:
(1) help bring focus to the many community service success stories that remain invisible to the community-at-large
(2) identify the needs in the communities and the community-at-large and the benefits of participation in community service opportunities
(3) discuss the challenges we face on community engagement and community partnership
Community Service Project: collectively, we will develop an execution list of community service project ideas that will offer our membership a chance to engage their compassion and offer our members and the youth a chance to positively affect the lives of others.
