About Sarah Collins-Simmons:

Sarah grew up gardening and preserving food in the Nelson County, VA so she felt right at home when she moved to Highland County in 2011 to participate as one of the founding Fellows at the Allegheny Mountain Institute. Today, Sarah uses the skills she acquired and honed through the Fellowship as well as her formal education - a bachelors degree in architecture and environmental science from the University of Virginia and a Masters' Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia - as the Orchardist and Cellar Master for Big Fish Cider, Co. based in Monterey, Virginia. Sarah is an Allegheny Mountain Institute board member and also serves on the Highland County Economic Development Authority, Highlanders for Responsible Development, and the Highland Tourism Council.
