Join Roc NORML for a Town Hall Meeting on Cannabis and HUD Housing.

We have seen in states where there is affordable and accessible access to medical cannabis, opioid related overdose deaths have decreased on average by 25%. With the opioid epidemic we’re facing here locally, we must be proactive in using this data to help us combat the epidemic and give folks access to opioid alternatives, without simultaneously asking them to risk their housing.

Rochester must be the leader in this area. We need to work with land lords, especially those with HUD funded facilities, locally at the city and county level. We need to form alliances and coalitions among the community landlords as a call to action, that they will not discriminate against individuals who choose to consume cannabis responsibly and legally. We must fight for and respect patients’ rights to access medicine that best meets their needs, and as a community we must see policies developed and alliances created to help protect them.

Our community is suffering from the opioid epidemic and we can’t wait another day to see this change take place. Roc NORML is organizing a town hall style meeting for a conversation to take place around this important issue where we’ll discuss clear action steps we must see taken here locally to effect change. RSVP ahead of time for the event and receive more information as the event is finalized.
