Event description

Description

Join the California Academy of Sciences, Literacy for Environmental Justice, CA State Parks, and the Bayview Public Library for a grassroots, smartphone-powered bioblitz to catalogue every species we can identify at Candlestick Point State Recreation Area!

All you need is the iNaturalist app on your phone and an account made (or a digital camera to upload photos later!) and your curiosity. We'll spend a couple hours walking through the park, documenting the plants and animals we see, and then we'll meet together afterward to share our finds and enjoy some food together.

This is an all ages, community event, so bring the family!

We'll meet at Jack Rabbit Beach off the main parking lot and then split up to explore the park in groups. Stay for a community BBQ afterwards to share what we found together!

If you are able, please download the iNaturalist app before the event. If you don't have a smartphone, that's okay! We'll try to pair people up who have the app, and we'll have a couple spare iPads to share, thanks to the Bayview Public Library.
