Event description

Description

The Fayette County Historical Society will sponsor a

“Candle Light Christmas Dinner” at the Abel Colley Tavern

Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the National Road.

Step back in time to an era when people traveled by wagons and coaches pulled by horses and only a few taverns, filled with the smells of slow roasted meats and fresh breads, dotted the roadside. These were gathering places for food, warmth, music, and friends.

On November 30 and December 1, 2018 the Museum will open for Christmas tours at 5:00 PM

Opening dinner fare will begin at 6:30 offering our finest ale {Ginger} and ciders served with a cheese and cured meat board with breads and relish.

Main Fare

Inspired by the customs and foods of 19th century America.

The Abel Colley Tavern “Elizabeth Malone” Signature Stew

A hearty mixture of slow roasted beef, root vegetables, beans, peas, and corn in a rich creamy gravy. It will be served with a Cornish Pasty and a tavern bread sampler basket with butter, apple butter and jams.

Our Sweet board will offer finest cakes, custard, and bread pudding, which will be served with coffee and tea.

Come dressed as a lady or gentleman of old {not mandatory}. Or bring your musical instrument and lead the visitors in song. Bring family and friends for a colonial Christmas dinner to remember. We will have story tellers and Christmas music for our festive evening.

The dinner is BYOB, but the society cannot uncork any bottles.

Tickets are $17.00 each.

Reserve early - room limited to 35 people per night.

Should you have any allergies, please let us know. In order to help us maintain a historic ambiance, please refrain from the use of cellular phones. No smoking please. Thank you.

We want to provide each guest with an authentic and historical dining experience.
