In keeping with our voter education mission, the Ward 8 Democrats presents "Your Choice, Your Vote," an in-person candidates' forum on Saturday, May 21, 2022, beginning at 11 am for Shadow Representative, Office of the Attorney General, and Office of the Mayor.

Moderated by WUSA9's Delia Gonçalves, the forum is your opportunity to hear directly from Democratic candidates vying for our support. Join us as we explore their records, ideas, policy proposals, and vision for our Ward, the District, and the nation.

The forum will take place in person at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church, located at 2616 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave., SE. The church is just a block away from the Anacostia Metro Station and is serviced by multiple bus lines. There is also off-street parking in the rear of the church (you access parking from MLK Ave). Please note masks are required to attend this in-person event. Vaccination is encouraged. Light refreshments will be provided.

Straw Poll

This year, instead of an endorsement, the organization will conduct a "straw poll" for candidates seeking the Democratic nomination. The straw poll will be online and accessible to Ward 8 voters who pre-registered for the event. On-site registrants will be given instructions on how to vote. There will also be on-site tech support for seniors or anyone needing assistance with the online straw poll.
