The Orange District welcomes you to its first member meeting of the 2017-2018 year!

Join us in an engaging discussion about the advances in nutritional management of renal disease and coding for malnutrition and obesity. Moreover, hear about updates from your local delegate. Light breakfast will be provided. This event is pending 2.5 CEUs.

Speakers:
Dr. Kam Kalantar-Zadeh, MD, MPH, PhD studied medicine in Germany and received MPH and PhD degrees in Epidemiology from Univ. California Berkeley, School of Public Health. He is trained in SUNY Brooklyn and UCSF and was board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Pediatrics. During 2000-2012 Dr. Kalantar was a full-time faculty at Harbor-UCLA including Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics and Epidemiology at UCLA; and medical director of a DaVita dialysis clinic in Long Beach, CA. Since 2012 he has served as a tenured Professor and HEAD of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at University of California Irvine School of Medicine, and a Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Public Health at UC Irvine and attending nephrologist at UC Irvine as well as Long Beach Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital. He is also an adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in Los Angeles, CA. Since his leadership position the “UC Irvine Nephrology” has been named twice among top 50 nephrology centers by the US News & World Report™ out of over 1700 nephrology centers nationwide.

Linda Williams, RN, CDI has a background as a highly accomplished registered nurse with extensive experience as a case manager in several magnet hospitals such as UCLA Medical Center, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Currently she works at St. Francis Medical Center, a tier two trauma center, as a Clinical Documentation Improvement specialist. She is an expert on clinical documentation guidelines within the hospital.

Teresa Bush-Zurn, MA, RDN, FAND is a native Angelino. She attained her MA and BS degrees from California State University, Northridge and completed her dietetic internship at Olive View Medical Center in Los
Angeles. She was a dietetic educator most her career. She is currently employed by the Veterans Health
Administration and was the Dietetic Internship Director at the VA San Diego Healthcare System 1999 –
2011. She transitioned to the VHA Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation in 2011
as a Field Implementation Team Consultant. In this role, she assists VHA facilities throughout the nation
as they undergo their cultural transformation to personalized, proactive, patient-driven care or Whole
Heath. She is past president of CDA and the San Diego District. Teresa is our newly elected delegate
representing Orange and San Diego districts to the AND House of Delegates.
