Description

Fundraising event in aid of Cancer Research UK. An evening of top quality, live electronic music, poetry, and performance art from some of the UK's finest. There will be a psychedelic projection onto the walls of a stunning Church in the heart of Bristol City Centre. The goal is to raise £1000 for CRUK, in particular, the Bishopston branch in Bristol as we like to give something back to our local community and Cancer Research is close to our hearts. All proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK.

EDSON BURTON Writer | Curator | Historian | Performer

Dr. Edson Burton is a writer, historian, programme-curator, and performer based in Bristol. Edson writes across literary mediums. Edson has maintained a career as a poet – his first collection Seasoned was published in 2008 – and a writer for theatre, radio & screen. Among his radio dramas the afternoon plays Armour of Immanuel (2007), the Chosen One (2009), Deacon (2017) have been selected variously, as Radio 4 listening highlights. His work is informed by his academic specialisms which include Bristol and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, Black History in the USA, cultural continuities between Africa & the New World & Race and Representation.

STEREO KELA

New York-born singer Raquel Peralta and Hampshire born producer and instrumentalist Josh Childs make Stereo Kela. Started in 2014 in Bristol UK they have played shows up and down the country. BBC Introducing South West picked up their tracks "State of Being", "Inventor", "Let Loose" and "I'm Fire" in 2016-2018.
Currently working on their second album, Silver Bullet, due to release in early 2019, Stereo Kela is the band to watch for unique dance music with a conscious message and old school flare.

PHOENIX FLARE

Synth-pop duo Phoenix-Flare performs their own brand of song-based electronica. With strong melodies, hard-edged synths and driving dance beats the band never fail to connect with an audience. Their live shows are enhanced by atmospheric soundscapes and art-house video projections.

Known for their passionate lyrics and haunting melodies Phoenix-Flare are a band who are well worth seeing in concert to experience the intensity of their live performance.

The band is the music project of longtime Bristol musicians Chris Bird and James Bragg who perform with vocals, live synths, drum machine, and guitars. Chris and James started composing and performing together for the first time in 2010. Since then they have released 2 EPs and have played at many music venues and clubs. Their debut album was released at the end of 2018.
