Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

“Cancer: Uncovered” is a creative 3-day workshop aimed at teenagers from 14-16 years old who are impacted by the diagnosis of cancer in their parents, siblings, friends or extended family. We believe in empowerment through education, and we aim for the workshop to be a fun and interactive way of allowing teens in similar situations to come together and understand concepts around cancer through creative expression.

The workshop will be run through a mentor-led approach and will comprise of two parts:

a) An informational aspect where teens will be grounded in the science of cancer.

b) A creative aspect where teens will be introduced to creative training in one of three areas: writing, illustration and drama.

The objective is to break down what cancer is on a molecular and clinical level, dispel myths surrounding cancer and outline how cancer immunotherapy and other treatments work. Another objective is to showcase current research being carried out in cancer immunology and immunotherapy.

We've got some great science mentors and really awesome creative mentors - Colm Keegan, Aoife Dooley and Sahar Ali - so you know it's going to be both educational and deadly craic!
