DESCRIPTION:

This workshop will be centered around the change to the Idaho State Department of Education's Special Education Manual Special Education Category, Deaf or Hard of Hearing. In 2018, the Special Education Manual was updated, we went from two categories that could potentially qualify a student with hearing loss for special education, "Hearing Impaired or Deafness" to one category, "Deaf or Hard of Hearing". This training will look at the change in definition as well as at the DHH Guiding Document created to help guide teams through the special education eligibility process for a child with hearing loss who is potentially eligible for special education. Following the overview of the definition and the DHH Guiding Document, the presentation team will take the participants through an interactive case study of a student through this process.

Lunch is not provided.
