Canadian Rockies Photo Tour
Sat, Sep 9, 2017, 12:00 PM – Sat, Sep 16, 2017, 2:00 PM MDT
The Canadian Rockies is one of the most beautiful photography destinations and the late summer/early autumn, with long golden light hours and autumn foliage is a precious time of the year. This tour focuses on the Canadian Rockies incredible landscapes, stunning waterfalls, marvellous canyons and colossal glaciers.
Join award winning blogger Marta Kulesza and award winning photographer Jack Bolshaw on their 8 day photography tour around the Canadian Rockies.
Our tour starts and finishes in Calgary where you'll be picked up/dropped off at the International Airport. This is also where we'll be spending the first night. This means after an introductory group dinner, a good sleep and a hearty breakfast we'll be ready to hit the road full of energy. As we'll be utilising the times of the day with the best light, we will be waking up early for the sunrise and staying up for sunset. Sunrises at this time of year are just after 7am and the days are roughly 12 hours long.
Our first base for the tour will be the stunning mountain town of Canmore where we'll be photographing the many reflecting ponds, flowing rivers and colossal mountains. We'll also be taking a trip down into Kananaski's Country looking for moose and stopping at many of the incredible roadside vistas.
After spending 2 nights in Canmore we will venture north, past Banff, up the Bow Valley Parkway and onto the Icefields Parkway. One of the most scenic roads in the World. The multitude of roadside stops on this stretch of road is staggering. Literally beauty in every direction. Our accomodation for this one night will be in the heart of Jasper, a small town with heaps of hustle and bustle.
After taking in the incredible vistas at Spirit Island, a truly breathtaking place, we head back down south we go visiting all the spots we didn't see in the Icefields Parkway until drive past Lake Louise and finally Banff.
We will spend 3 nights in Banff. Many consider it to be the most picturesque place in the whole of the Canadian Rockies and you'll understand why. Jaw dropping mountains, surreal lakes, electric atmosphere and stupendous mountain vistas. On the evening with the best weather conditions we will be taking the gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain and photographing the town of Banff from 2900ft higher.
During our trip free time will be given so you can go out and explore the highlights of mountain towns, purchasing souvenirs for loved ones, or take a well deserved nap.
The final day of the tour will start the same as every other day, a sunrise photography session followed by a nutritious breakfast. Guests have the option of continuing their holiday in Banff, being dropped off in Canmore or being taken back to Calgary International Airport. We expect to arrive at the airport early afternoon (around 13:00).
Throughout the trip both Jack and Marta will be available for any question photography related questions you may have and will assist with any guidance you may require. Whether it being compositional rules, camera settings, editing techniques and even social media queries. The tour is open for all levels of photographers.
