Event description

Description

Can We Talk? How To Have Civil Conversations in a Deeply Divided Society"

This event will bring together community-minded people of diverse points of view from the Northern Valley area for a day-long, interactive, skill-building workshop. The focus will be on building skills enabling participants to engage in effective dialogue and to develop mutual understanding despite our differences. Through some lecture and more inter-group activities, we will cover essential practices that make constructive conversations possible: by suspending judgement, listening, having empathy, respecting, and voicing. While this workshop is offered in the context of the deep divides apparent in our society today, we will be working on tools and skills we can use for managing conflict in all areas of our lives.

The workshop will be guided by nationally and internationally experienced facilitator and mediator Randall Butler, CEO of The Institute For Sustainable Peace, Boulder, CO.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The workshop is open to any adult 18 to 80+ and we hope for a diversity of age and perspectivve.

Tickets: Early Bird $20. After October 15th or at door (if space is available): $30.00

Cresskill Congregational Church, UCC, and other sponsoring organizations, welcome with respect all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or political perspective to participate in this event.
