The Two Most Important Questions in Screenwriting –Can We Pitch It?
Can We Cast It? –
With Writer-Manager-Producer
Mike Kuciak

Apply these questions to keep your
screenplay on track

Writers often wonder what kinds of scripts they should be working that have best chance of moving forward, or why the scripts they have written are having trouble gaining traction.

This is because many writers aren’t applying the two questions many producers use to gauge if a project is worth pursuing or not: “Can we pitch it? Can we cast it?”

Both questions are loaded with meaning beyond the obvious, and Mike will help to clarify the thinking going on behind the decision making that leads to some scripts grabbing attention, and others met with silence.

Topics include:

  • How and why screenplays are optioned and sold.
  • Thinking about paradigm.
  • Writing to the reality of the business.
  • Avoiding the dreaded “programmer.
  • The difference between actors and talent.
  • Being aware of the needs of each genre.
  • Imagining the one-sheet.
  • Looking at the script like a representative or producer.
