Event description

Description

In today’s political climate, peace and connection between different groups seems difficult to achieve. It can sometimes feel like there is no middle ground. Learning about Intercultural Communication is a powerful way to start changing your own understanding of differences, ability to more confidently engage in difficult conversations, and improve your skills across cultures. Join me for the day and learn how to use an intercultural framework to approach differences; use it as a theoretical foundation for your work, or add it to your already established social justice toolbox. Intercultural Communication is a complimentary perspective to the more well-known multicultural, diversity and inclusion, and social justice approaches. It also assists with going in-depth and getting beyond the simple do’s and don’ts in diversity work.

For mental health professionals, this information is crucial for working more effectively with our clients from various cultural backgrounds. This workshop qualifies for the Oregon Cultural Competency Continuing Education Credits now required for many licensed mental health professionals (6 CE hours).

*Learn more about my work from an interview about a past workshop:

**There are no refunds for cancellations one week prior to the event.

***This workshop is primarily for mental health professionals, but people in related professions (e.g., education, healthcare) and graduate students interested in this topic are welcome.
