The campground has 132-campsites, a camp store, restrooms and pay shower facilities. The campsites are mostly shaded and situated under coast live oaks, western sycamores and eucalyptus. Our sites are located near El Capitan Creek and hiking trails. The highlight is the beautiful view of the ocean and the Santa Ynez mountains.

We have 2-campsites booked – so we should have plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the space. There flush toilets, running water and pay showers (bring quarters if you want to shower!)

The campsite has limited parking- so CARPOOLING WILL BE NECESSARY. I will help coordinate carpooling.

**** Cost for the 3-day, 2-night trip is $90 per person. ****

The trip is limited to 15-guests. ALL ages welcome. No dogs. Must be fit enough for 1-2 mile hiking/walking and able to assist setting up our tents and campsite.

El Capitan State Beach is about 2 hours North of Los Angeles. Please plan to leave the LA area between 12 and 2 pm on Friday (before the traffic starts) This will put you at the campsite at 5 pm or before. We will begin with camp set up @ 5 pm.Because this is a group learning event – we need to have everyone arrive by 5 pm so we can set up camp together.

What is included?

- Campgrounds
- Camp meals – with the exception of Saturday dinner which will be potluck. The following meals are included:
---- Friday dinner
---- Saturday breakfast
---- Saturday lunch
---- Sunday breakfast
- Cups, plates and utensils
- Hands-on camp learning experiences (including setting up tents, building a campfire, cooking over the campfire, hiking, etc.)
- Firewood
- Organized hikes and activities

I will provide the meals listed above and cooking needed equipment for our camping weekend. We will prepare, cook and clean-up our camp meals together as a group.

What you will need for the trip:

- Basic gear for car camping:
- Sleeping bag/blanket,
- Pad/mattress/yoga mat,
- Flashlight/headlamp,
- Camp chair
- The hiking clothes and shoes, etc.

We will be minimizing the number of tents and I will try to provide several variations of sizes and types of tents, so we can review how to set up various tent types. I will be asking if you have a tent and what type – before we determine who should bring a tent.If you don’t have a tent, no worries, we will be bunking together to minimize the tents

You will need to bring your own drinking water, personal snacks and your potluck item for Saturday night’s dinner.

Saturday’s dinner will be potluck style, please plan to bring a dish for 6-8 people. I will send out suggestions for campfire meals and I am available to answer questions before the weekend.

ADDITIONAL COSTS:
In addition to providing your basic gear, your own snacks, drinking water, and your potluck item for Saturday, please keep in mind the following:

- You will share in the cost of gas for the trip up and back – with your carpool mates.
- You may want quarters for the showers.

Fun Fact: "The monarch is the only butterfly known to make a two-way migration as birds do... Some fly as far as 3,000 miles to reach their winter home!" Monarch butterflies migrate south to Southern California and Mexico between September and December each year, and Goleta and El Capitan State Beach are directly on this path.
