Event Details

Celebrate United Nations Day of the Girl with us! Camp United Nations for Girls introduces girls ages 9 to 17 to international politics and the work of the United Nations. The class begins with a lesson on the history of the United Nations and its purpose. This is followed by an explanation of the structure, leadership and the rules of procedure of the United Nations starting with the General Assembly and subsidiary organs. Students learn about the specific work undertaken by the United Nations’ boards, commissions, committees, councils and panels and working groups. Prior to convening the General Assembly, each student will serve as a delegate for a UN Member State and solve geopolitical challenge questions in regional work groups. When the General Assembly convenes delegates will give speeches, negotiate with other delegates, caucus and propose resolutions along with amendments before finally voting on an UN resolution. All students receive a Certificate of Completion. Girl Scouts and Girl Guides earn a Global Action Award or World Thinking badge. Each student will complete a Day of the Girl activism tool kit focused on an issue of her choice and a UN guest speaker will address the students.

The registration fee covers program materials, a GIP logo shirt, treat bag and snacks. For additional information visit our website at, email or call +1 (202) 660-1457 ext 1.
