Event description

Description

Camp Dermadillo Family Day is a wonderful introduction to the Camp Discovery camp program. Camp Discovery is a week-long camp experience for children and teens ages 9-15 with significant skin disease. It is a national camp program sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology and held at various camp sites across the USA with no cost to the campers or their families. Our Texas camp is held each August in Burton, TX, at Camp For All. This is a transformative experience for the campers who attend. But being away from home for a week can be a big step for some--including both our campers and their parents, so this is an excellent opportunity for our future campers to check out all that we have to offer. It is also a great time for families to experience this unique setting with their children. It is definitely a chance to catch the "can do" spirit of Camp For All, which is a barrier free camp that provides life changing programs for children and adults with challenging illnesses and special needs to help them gain self-confidence and independence while having fun, learning new skills and bonding with others who share their challenges in a safe and understanding environment. The event includes lunch and snacks for registered guests. There are scholarships available to cover the cost of the event if needed. Babysitting will not be provided and all participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Camp Dermadillo Family Day is sponsored by A Children's House for the Soul, which is a nonprofit in Houston that provides opportunities for social, emotional and spiritual support for those affected by skin conditions and birthmarks.
