Camp Congress for Girls DC II 2017 is a week-long summer camp program that introduces girls ages 10 to 15 to politics. Camp will include an outing to the US Capitol to meet members of Congress, visiting the House Gallery, visiting the Senate Gallery, lunch on the Hill, a tour of the US Capitol and visit to the Library of Congress. Participants will also have field trips the National Archives to see the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence and visit the National Museum of American History.

The Camp Congress for Girls classroom curriculum begins with a girl-friendly lesson on the structure of our political system. Each girl will choose to run for a seat in the US House of Representatives, the US Senate or for the presidency. She will create her own campaign with a platform, campaign slogan, campaign finance plan and a political ad. All campers will register to vote and then vote in an election. Once elected to Congress and sworn in, the newly installed members of Congress will learn how to introduce a bill, debate the merits of the bill, lobby fellow legislators, collaborate with the Executive branch and finally vote on the proposed bill. Camp will culminate with a ceremonial signing of the bill by our Ms. President. During the camp session the campers will meet political consultants that will serve as honorary camp counselors. All attendees earn a Certificate of Completion and Girl Scouts attending Camp Congress for Girls DC 2017 will also earn a Citizen Legacy badge upon completion of the program.

The camp fee includes snacks, all supplies for camp activities including Capitol Hill and National Archives outings. Campers bring lunch Monday through Thursday and a pizza party will be hosted on Friday.
