Event description

Description

Join Mera Kitchen Collective for a cooking class to benefit refugees in Baltimore City!

Chef Instructor Liliane Makole, orginially from Cameroon, will teach you how to make Poulet DG - one of the best-loved dishes from her home country. "DG" stands for "Director General" - indicating how important and special those who eat it are. Lilane and the rest of the Mera Team would like to share it with you!

You'll receive everything you need to make your own Poulet DG with Liliane, who will walk you through the process every step of the way. R House has generously agreed to donate their space and cooking equipment for our class, so you'll have everything you need to make some exceptionally delicious chicken!

Cooking with your classmates, you'll make a feast worthy of a king (or Director General) and then the entire class will sit down and share the meal together.

100% of the class proceeds will go to support refugees in Baltimore through the Mera Kitchen Collective.

What is the Mera Kitchen Collective?

Mera Kitchen Collective is a community-driven, food-based cooperative focused on empowerment of refugee and immigrant women by tapping into their passion for cooking, self-expression and creating community.

Mera Kitchen Collective offers pop-up events throughout Baltimore City. Our events are hosted in private homes and restaurants, and each event showcases the story and cuisine of a different chef. Mera's chefs come from all over the world and are here seeking refuge; they are eager to put their skills back to use to re-establish an independent, sustainable livelihood. We hope to connect you with our chefs and our chefs with their local community.

Mera Kitchen Collective is a worker-owned cooperative - each chef has ownership in the enterprise that we are working to build together. This allows for each individual to not only strengthen their culinary expertise, but also gain equity and have a voice in daily operations. 100% of our proceeds go to our chefs, their families, and to support refugees in Baltimore.
