Description

The Cambridge Youth Gamelan is excited to host a 3-day summer session for anyone interested in learning how to play traditional Balinese gamelan music! This is a great opportunity if you are looking to learn how to play a new instrument, or if you have been involved with the group during the year and want to get better at playing.


Summer Session Dates (June 26-28, 2017)
Monday June 26 - 10:00AM-12:30PM
Tuesday June 27 - 10:00AM-12:30PM
Wednesday June 28 - 10:00AM-1:00PM**

On the last day of class, we will present a short program for families in the lobby of the MIT Museum.

All classes will meet at the MIT World Music Room, which is in the building adjacent to the MIT Museum located at 265 Massachusetts Avenue. Directions to the room will be provided after you register.


Summer Session Costs:
Registration for the summer session is $30.00 ($10.00 per class). Financial aid scholarships are available for families. For more information, email cambridgeyouthgamelan@gmail.com

Please note; There will be no refunds for the summer session after Monday June 26.


About the Cambridge Youth Gamelan:
The Cambridge Youth Gamelan (Gamelan Anak Tika) aims to inspire, engage with, and educate youth about traditional gamelan music and dance of Bali, Indonesia. Our group is open to students in Grades 3 - 9. No prior musical experience necessary. Beginners strongly encouraged!

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is metered parking on Massachusetts Avenue, Front Street, Windsor Street, State Street, and Main Street. Most of this parking is 2 hour parking until 8pm unless otherwise indicated. Additionally, you can take the Red Line to Central or Kendall Square and walk down to the MIT Museum. You can also take the following busses which will bring you to within a couple of blocks of the museum: 1, 64, 70, 70A, and CT1.
