Event description

Description

The People's Assembly campaign roadshow 'Britain is Broken - We Can't Afford the Tories' is coming to Cambridge. We are hosting our own version of Question Time with a panel made up of local and national organisations and representatives.

From housing, libraries and public transport to the NHS, social care and education, this is an opportunity to ask your questions about the impacts of austerity and what we can to about it locally and nationally. It's also a chance to share your experiences of austerity and ask politicians directly what they will do to reduce the harm caused to our communities.

The event is free and family-friendly.

Background to the campaign

1. The speech by the chancellor of the exchequer to the Tory party conference in which he committed the government to continue its austerity policy without time limit.

2. Many essential services including the national rail system, schools, prisons, social care and the NHS are at breaking point.

3. The further cuts to local authority funding will hollow out local services and are already pushing councils into bankruptcy.

4. The People's Assembly has provided an important national mobilising platform for anti-austerity campaigners
