Event description

Description

This year, CNS is holding our annual Neurological Symposium as a one-day event on the 4th March 2018 themed Towards personalized neurology: studying neurons to treating individuals’. The conference will focus on the need for a multi-disciplinary, targeted approach towards better understanding and development of novel therapies for neurological conditions. We aim to promote current, most promising cutting-edge research, not only from the University of Cambridge but from any institutions of international caliber. Neurological conditions have widespread, systemic impact on the human body, expanding beyond the realms of the nervous system and have immunological, genomic and psychiatric involvement among numerous others. These aspects significantly contribute to unique disease presentation, progression and treatment in individuals, thus outlining the necessity of a targeted, integrated multi-disciplinary approach towards personalized medicine. Finally, our event aims to further cultivate the interest of medical students in neurological disease and research as a career path, as well as to encourage public engagement in understanding, raise awareness and eliminate misconceptions around some poorly understood conditions.
