Calling the Soul- A blessing for children w/ Doña Maria
Event Information
Description
Doña María Apaza is an Altomisayoc which means "she who welcomes the Major Spirits, the most important and powerful", and is the highest degree of Andean Priestess. She is the last Inca Priestess with this degree and comes from Hatun Quigo, Q'ero Nation of Cusco, Peru. Initiated in the Ancestral Andean Wisdom she will visit our country in order to share her knowledge and to help remind us that within us there exists the capacity to communicate with the Pachamama, our Inner Mother, the eternal feminine and with the Great Father, that dwells in our interior.
Children’s Blessing; Call for the Return of the Soul for Children age 12 and under (30 min). Children, owing to their delicate constitutional state, can be effect by the negative energies they may encounter. These traumas that fragment their psyches or souls make it difficult to sleep at night, they may have nightmares, trouble with classmates at school or siblings and parents at home or they may become physically ill. This ceremony calls for their soul to return to them, healing the trauma and the fragmentation. The results can be seen in how they begin to relate better with others, they start to become healthier, they may sleep better at night, and that their optimism returns to them.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Q’ero Nation is located in the province of Paucarambo, in the Cusco Region, at 1,400-5000 meters above sea level. It comprises the communities of Hatun Q’ero, Q’ero Totorani, Japu, Quico, and Macachea. Although originally there were eight communities, three of them have disappeared owing to immigration.
The Q’ero Nation is considered the last Inka ayllu or tribe by many historians. The Q’ero People have been regarded as the last Inka heirs who still keep their ancient traditions.
They are considered the Children of the Light because this nation lived hidden amidst the mountains and has therefore preserved the Tahuantinsuyo traditions. For this reason they received the Cultural Heritage Distinction from the Peruvian Government on November 21st, 2007. The Q’ero Nation has been acknowledged as “witness people and refuge region” in the Latinamerican cultural process. For various reasons, these people have been able to keep exceptional aspects of their culture and identity that existed in pre-Columbian society. Although they have received and assimilated important information from the Western Culture – thus they cannot be regarded as a pure or uncontaminated- yet they have been able to maintain their own distinctive traits from the civilisation they belonged to, such as their peculiar social structure, their worldview, and their prophetic messianic mythology.
For the Q’ero, the whole world is conscious. Everything in nature is considered as a living and receptive entity. Everything has a spirit: human beings, the Earth, the Sun, the Moon, the mountains, the stars, the animals…they are only different forms of Kausay, the living energy.
All of our events are directly supporting the Q'ero people, thank you for your donations!
