About this event

Green Kill Sessions presents Calling All Poets(CAPS) November 10, 7 PM, featuring Ruth Danon, Raphael Kosek, Guy Reed, and Stephanie JT Russell, and hosted by Mike Jurkovic.

This event will be livestreamed on the Green Kill Sessions YouTube Channel and will be open to a live audience of 30. Tickets are 5 dollars.

1. Please click "Tickets" button to access livestream or live audience ticket.

2. Select "Livestream Ticket" or "Live Audience Ticket". Audience members attending in person must be masked! Please choose the right ticket. A Livestream Ticket provides you with a link to the Green Kill Sessions livestream which can be accessed remotely on your own equipment. A Live Audience Ticket puts you on a list for a reserved set at the event, and also provides you a livestream link. If you are coming to the event, please arrive 15 minutes before starting time. There are no ticket sales at the door. All tickets must be reserved on Eventbrite.

3. Enter the number of tickets you would like to buy.

4. Enter your credit card information: Name, Number, Expiration Date, and CVV code. Double-check the info you entered. Make sure it's correct. It’s easy to slip up!

5. Select "Place Order". You will then have access to the page which has a watch event link. Click on that link to see the YouTube event address. An email will also be sent to the email address you provided with the link.

Shortly before the event, you will receive a reminder link.

Please be advised that tickets are not transferable. If you wish to buy a ticket for someone else, you must use their email when buying a ticket for an event.

Because COVID is still a potential hazard guests attending the livestream in person must be masked and vaccinated. Artists organizing events can limit the number of a live audience or decline to invite any in-person attendance.

The Poets

Ruth Danon

Ruth Danon is the author of the poetry collections Word Has It (Nirala Series 2018), Limitless Tiny Boat (BlazeVOX, 2015), Triangulation from a Known Point (North Star Line, 1990), a chapbook, Living with the Fireman (Ziesing Brothers, 1980), and a book of literary criticism, Work in the English Novel (Croom-Helm, 1985), which was reissued by Routledge in 2021. Her poetry has appeared in a number of anthologies., including Eternal Snow (Nirala, 2017), Resist Much, Obey Little (Spuyten Duyvil, 2017) Noon: An Anthology of Short Poems (Isobar Press, 2019). CAPS 20 Anthology (CAPS 2020), Stronger than Fear: Poems of Compassion, Empowerment and Social Justice (Cave Moon Press, 2022), and is forthcoming in the Poetry is Bread Anthology (Nirala Publications, 2023.) Her work was selected by Robert Creeley for Best American Poetry, 2002.  Her poetry and prose have appeared in The Florida Review, Tupelo Quarterly, Post Road, Versal, Mead, BOMB, the Paris Review, Fence, the Boston Review, 3rd Bed, Crayon, 2Horatio,  Barrow Street, and many other publications in the U.S. and abroad. She has been a fellow at the Ragdale Foundation, the Corporation of Yaddo, the Ora Lerman Foundation, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts. For 23 years she taught in the creative and expository writing programs that she directed for The School of Professional Studies at New York University and was founding Director of their Summer Intensive Creative Writing Workshop.   Those workshops ran from 1999 to 2016.  She is the founder of Live Writing: A Project for the Reading, Writing, and Performance of Poetry, which has been operating since 2018.  Before the pandemic she curated the Spring Street Reading Series for Atlas Studios in Newburgh, New York. She lives n Beacon, NY and teaches through Live Writing and New York Writer’s Workshop.

Mike Jurkovic

Mike Jurkovic’s latest collection, mooncussers, (Luchador Press)2022. Recent collections include AmericanMental, (Luchador Press 2019); Blue Fan Whirring (Nirala Press, 2018) President, Calling All Poets, New Paltz, NY. Reviews appear at All About Jazz and Lightwoodpress. Hosts New Jazz Excursions WIOX 91.3 FM.

Guy Reed

Guy Reed won the 2022 Littoral Press poetry prize and is author of Second Innocence (Luchador Press), The Effort To Hold Light (Finishing Line Press), and co-author, with Cheryl A. Rice, of Until The Words Came (Post Traumatic Press). His work has been published in journals both online and in print. Guy has made short films with directing partner, Katie Cokinos, most recently, Water Keeps Time (YouTube). He graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (Los Angeles). From Minnesota, Guy now resides in the Catskills Mountains.

Stephanie JT Russell

Interdisciplinary artist, author, and cultural worker Stephanie JT Russell’s most recent creative nonfiction book is One Flash of Lightning, a poetic treatment of the Samurai code (Andrews McMeel). Her work has appeared in journals such as Xavier Review, The Winter Anthology, Lightwood, and at noted venues including The New Museum, The Griffin Museum of Photography, and The Albright Knox. A visiting artist at New York University, The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, and other institutions, Russell is Overall Winner of the 2022 Wirral Poetry Festival, UK award. She is a Trustee at The Emile Brunel Sculpture Garden & Park, an historic nature sanctuary and art center in Boiceville, NY
