California School Library Association (CSLA) Virtual Annual Conference 2021, "Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future"

About this Event

You won't want to miss CSLA's first virtual annual conference on February 11-12 and 19-20, 202`1. Connect with school library colleagues and other educators in and beyond California.

Our conference kicks off Thursday, February 11, with a warm welcome and presentations by providers on State Databases Best Practices for Remote Learning, including an intensive hour-long question and answer session with database providers.

At 2:00, award-winning author Avi will deliver the keynote "Historical Fiction: Never More Important." The day includes our annual membership meeting, followed by a Social, including the CSLA Awards.

Friday, February 12, the DigCitSummit™ with Dr. Marialice Curran in partnership with CSLA, will be a powerful and empowering day!

Friday, February 19, begins with a keynote by Sarah Thomas of EduMatch Publishing "#TBT: Looking Backwards to Look Ahead". Next, talented concurrent session presenters share their expertise, focused on the strands of Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity, Leadership, and Graphic Novels. Visit and interact with exhibitors, attend exhibitor learning sessions, and benefit from Healthy Choice programming.

Friday evening culminates with a new way to share in the celebration of the iconic California Young Reader Medal, a special event with student introductions and keynotes by each of the Intermediate category award winners, Neal Shusterman for Scythe, and Kimberly Brubaker Bradley for The War I Finally Won. End the evening with Zumba®!

Saturday, February 20, starts with a keynote by Olivia (aka "LivBit") Van Ledtje, "Spark Change: Making Your Mark in a Digital World". LivBit, a dynamic 11-year-old, is a proponent of literacy, learning, digital citizenship, and student voice on social media. Then, enjoy more concurrent sessions and exhibitor learning sessions throughout the day. Birds of a Feather will gather at lunch. The conference concludes with an Idea Slam.
