Event description

Description

We are very excited to invite you and your labor-management team to the California Labor Management Initiative (CA LMI) Southern CA Labor Management Convening- Moving Together from Good to Great. This two-day event is an opportunity to convene with your labor-management team, learn from other districts, share insights, plan your work together and think through ways to collaboratively build systems to promote better outcomes for students and staff. You will hear presentations from districts that have made significant strides by making labor-management partnerships a priority over the past few years and learn together how to take substantive and collaborative steps in a post-Janus world.

The full agenda will be available soon, with portions of the two-day program split into parallel strands for school districts new to the CA LMI and those who have attended a convening in the past. New school districts will receive an overview of the CA LMI and can use this opportunity to start on the pathway to deeper collaborative labor-management relationships. Continuing school districts will use their time to engage more deeply as a team with the new boundary evaluation rubric and discover how central offices and schools can improve organizational culture to focus on better outcomes for students and staff.

The CA LMI convenes public school management and labor association leadership to build deep and enduring cross-sector union-administration partnerships in California public schools. By exploring and sharing evidence-based research, professional learning methodologies, and best practices through peer learning networks, the CA LMI builds support and expertise among educators and administrators for local labor-management collaborations. FAQ's

Should I sign up as an individual or as a labor management team?

The event is designed for district labor-management teams. Teams should ideally include (at a minimum) the superintendent, HR director, certificated and classified union leaders and a school board member. Many districts also include key central office and site level staff and department leaders. There is designated time for team planning on both days. We encourage you to connect with your leadership to organize your labor-management team attendance.

What is the timeframe for each day?

Breakfast will be available both days at 8:30 am with the program starting at 9:30 am. The program will run March 11th from 9:30 - 3:00.
