CALIFORNIA BUDGET PERSPECTIVE: What's At Stake in State and Federal Budget Proposals?
Hosted by the School of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside and the California Budget & Policy Center, this event will examine the key elements of Governor Brown’s proposed 2017-18 state budget, major changes expected at the federal level, and the key issues that will shape upcoming budget debates at the national, state, and local levels. The Budget Center’s Chris Hoene will present on state budget proposals set against the backdrop of fundamental shifts expected at the federal level. Maribel Nunez from California Partnership and UCR Professor Ronald Loveridge will then discuss the implications of state and federal budget choices for communities in the Inland Empire.

UCR School of Public Policy
The UCR School of Public Policy (SPP) is the latest addition to the University of California, Riverside academic enterprise. With a Master of Public Policy program launched in Fall 2015, the UCR School of Public Policy is training a new generation of forward-thinking public policy leaders equipped to address the complex, interrelated challenges of poverty, disease, climate change, pollution and more. The School of Public Policy includes the Dean's Office and five research centers: the Center for Sustainable Suburban Development, the Presley Center for Crime and Justice Studies, the One Health Center (which is part of the UC Global Health Institute), the Blum Initiative for Global and Regional Poverty, and the Immigration Research Group.
