Description

Producer/ Director Calibe Thompson discusses her evolution from independent filmmaker to Network TV Producer.

Calibe Thompson claims the title of "Head Dread" at her media company Blondie Ras Productions. She has been a player in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, originally as an internationally touring vocalist, and in the last several years as Executive Producer for multiple regional and national television series.

In 2014, with her third broadcast project - "Taste the Islands with Chef Irie", she became the first Jamaican producer to achieve national placement of a series on US public television. She has also produced and directed projects in corporate communications, marketing and promotions, advertising and documentary. Her competencies include project management, show running, talent direction, script writing, copy writing and content editing. Clients and partners include Chicago State University, Jamaica and Barbados Tourism Boards, Grace Foods and Victoria Mutual Building Society.

Ms Thompson's team develops and manages online content for various corporate and interest based websites. She is personally the lead editor and occasional writer for the company's client video and website projects, original television productions, companion website to the national television series, and bestselling Jamaican affiliate cookbook to the series. As a prolific writer, she has contributed thought provoking content to South Florida's leading black newspaper, the South Florida Times, weekly since 2013.

In addition to video production and content management, Blondie Ras Productions has coordinated multiple website development and corporate promotional graphics projects.

Ms Thompson and her projects have been featured on South Florida's Deco Drive and NBC6, in publications including the New York Daily News, The Sun Sentinel, The Jamaica Gleaner, Atlanta Blackstar, Caribbean Today, Caribbean National Weekly and Jamaicans.com. She has been named a Rising Star by the International Career and Business Alliance, and one of Broward's Top 40 Under 40 by Legacy Magazine.
