Event description

Description

Remember Seminary and Institute instructor Jay Richardson? We are excited that he will be speaking at our upcoming Calgary Mormon Symposium on November 23rd at 7 p.m.in the Cardel Theatre. Jay's topic will address "Living in the Third Great Transition Period in Mormon History: Learning Lessons about Overselling the Gospel." His presentation will identify and examine some of the deficient ways that we were teaching the Gospel, and how they have contributed to the challenges we are facing today in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding faith crises, and will offer some suggestions on teaching our history to navigate the shifting and contemporary cultural sands of our time. There will be ample time for a Q and A afterward.

Jay holds a Ph.D from the University of Calgary in Religious Studies and is currently an instructor at the Institute of Religion in Phoenix, Arizona.

Some of you have already purchased tickets. Please make a note of the correct event date.

Also please save the dates for January 18 and 20 for our next Calgary Mormon Symposia will host Teryl and Fiona Givens who will discuss their current projects and most recent book The God Who Heals.
