Attendance at this seminar will give you the tools to measure and define exposures, build a simple and effective risk policy, and execute a successful currency risk management and hedging strategy.

With unique insights into how exchange rates and agricultural markets interact, Mark Frey, Chief Operating Officer and Karl Schamotta, Chief Market Strategist will deliver a hands-on, practical discussion focused on mitigating currency risk in real world business scenarios. With several decades of combined experience working with small and large agricultural operations, they will share some of the strategies that Canada’s most successful farmers and service providers have utilized to grow profits and ensure sustainability of their business operations over the long-term.

Principal Seminar Objectives

Identify the business activities that can give rise to currency exposures, identify best practices for mitigating risk at each stage of the contracting and business process and summarize approaches to measuring exchange rate sensitivity

Define the building blocks needed to construct and implement a written risk policy

Illustrate the practical use of hedging tools including forward contracts, FX swaps, vanilla and structured options

Give you a solid understanding of the tactics that can be used to lower costs and optimize trade execution in order to drive sustainable business results irrespective of the currencies contracts are negotiated in
