The Summer Deep Dive is an in-person, 3-day intensive with Calabasa Calabasa: Dancing and Making the Music of life. Explore our creative process that includes African Diaspora dance forms, shekere playing, song, and vocal work with Calabasas Calabasa Director Andrea E. Woods Valdés teaching Shekere and Dance and faculty Toya Chinfloo/Dunham, Lana Garland/Body Conditioning, Jasmé Kelly/Vocal Work, Ursula Payne/Soul Line Dance, Aya Shabu/Haitian Dance, and Oesa Vinesett/Afro-Cuban Folklore, and percussionist, Bashir Shakur.
Bring your open heart and open spirit. No musical experience necessary. Our dance, music, and songs draw from contemporary, folk, and traditional creative forms and philosophies reflected in the African Diaspora.
Lunch is provided Saturday and Sunday.
