Don't miss your chance to attend the 2017 Startup Career Fair on April 12th, 2017. This is your opportunity to recruit Cal Poly students and alumni of all majors and levels for career, internship, and co-op positions. All employers must have open positions in order to attend. We hope you'll join us!

Event location: Advanced Technology Laboratories, Building 7

Registration fees: This event features tiered table pricing to support organizations of all sizes and budgets:

Tier 1 | Scaling (over 100 employees) | $500

Tier 2 | Growing (50 – 100 employees) | $300

Tier 3 | Validating (10 – 50 employees) | $150

Tier 4 | Ideating (10 employees or less) | $50

Career Fair Agenda

8:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. check-in, display set-up and coffee

9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. networking with students

1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. employer lunch

1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. onsite interviews (if company chooses to pursue)


Registration Fee

Career Fair registration fee:

This event features tiered table pricing to support organizations of all sizes and budgets:

Tier 1 | over 100 employees $500

Tier 2 | 50 – 100 employees $300

Tier 3 | 10 – 50 employees $150

Tier 4 | 10 employees or less $50

Basic registration fee includes:

  • One 48"-60"-foot round table with linen

  • Registration for three representatives

  • Event advertising: Cal Poly Entrepreneurs will be advertised on campus electronic bulletin boards, in presentations to classes, in Mustang News ads, on distributed posters and flyers, and on the Cal Poly Entrepreneurs' website home page*

  • Light Breakfast and Lunch

  • On-campus parking

Optional Fees

  • Extra representatives (limit five per table): $35 each

  • This event features tiered table pricing to support organizations of all sizes and budgets. Extra table (additional tables are approved based on space availability):

    • Tier 1 | over 100 employees - Additional Table: $500 per table

    • Tier 2 | 50 – 100 Employees - Additional Table: $300 per table

    • Tier 3 | 10 – 50 Employees - Additional Table: $150 per table

    • Tier 3 | 10 Employees or Less - Additional Table: $50 per table


Cancellation, Refund and Non-Payment Policy

In the event that a company chooses to withdraw completely from the career fair, the following refund will apply. Once you have been notified that your registration has been approved, our cancellation policy is in effect. Please submit all cancellation requests via Eventbrite.

Cancellation requests received two weeks before the event will received a full refund and subject to a $100.00 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for any cancellations received less than two weeks before the event.

Organizations whose account is not paid in full will be required to pay for all past outstanding fees and pre-pay for the current fair they wish to attend. Employers with any outstanding fees will not be permitted to attend the fair until their account is paid in full.

No Show Policy

Organizations that do not check-in by 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event will be considered a “no show." The table may be reassigned and the organization will be billed for the event. We cannot “roll over” the registration to another event or refund the fee.

Tips for writing an effective job description

Writing an effective job description is essential to recruiting the right candidate. A job or internship description is a summary of the functions and qualifications needed for a position and should also highlight the reasons a great hire would love the job. Students really want to know what kind of work they will be doing. The basic components are:

  • Title

  • Description: major duties and responsibilities of the position

  • Qualifications: knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors required to perform the job

  • Application Process

  • Salary

  • Location

We highly recommend that after registration you send us job descriptions that we can distribute to our students.

Would you like to interview candidates you meet at the Career Fair?

Interview Option 1 - Interviews will be held the day of the Career Fair

Booth space at the venue is available for you to use from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please note on your registration your intentions of having on campus interviews. Please note that This is not a private room, therefore there may be other companies interviewing around you.

Interview Option 2 - Interviews will be held later in Winter Quarter

Reserve interview space through our on campus interview program. Reservations for spring recruiting fill quickly. Please plan to hold interviews on campus soon after a career fair and be sure to review the recruiting calendar to plan when you will set-up your interview schedule.
