A Networking Mixer with The Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program
The Cal Poly SF/SJ Alumni Chapter is pleased to host a networking mixer with current Cal Poly students and recent graduates in the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship program. The CIE supports students as they work to create new innovations and start new business ventures. This is a collaboration between the University, the San Luis Obispo community and Cal Poly Alumni. At this three-hour event, attendees will have the opportunity to network with young entrepreneurs, learn more about their businesses, and make new connections. The following companies will be present to interact with you:
-Guidekick is a virtual tour guide mobile application for historical attractions. The team was recently admitted into 500 Startups, a prominent technology accelerator. Check it out here: http://www.guidekick.co.
-VegThisWay has created a healthy and delicious on-the-go dehydrated vegetable snack called Rawr Bar. This product helps provide a convenient and fun way for children to eat their vegetables and is now being sold in local retail stores in San Luis Obispo. Check it out here: http://vegthisway.com.
-HomeSlice is a mobile application that allows roommates to better manage accountability within a home, enabling them to live happier lives, be more productive and enjoy living together. Find their app on the iTunes and Google Play app store. Check it out here: http://www.homesliceapp.com.
-Otto is a heavy-lifting wall climbing robot, invented by three mechanical engineering students. The team is currently developing their second prototype and researching commercial applications. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv4Q6PjHbWM.
Note: All of these CIE startups have been involved in events and programs, such as the Elevator Pitch Competition, Entrepreneurship Forums, HotHouse Accelerator & Incubator, and the Hatchery.
