Event description

CAL2Advanced Education and Validated Practice (AEVP) course is the next step on the journey towards being a Certified Agile Leader. The AEVP requires the CAL I credential to be obtained first and is itself a prerequisite for the Peer Workshop.

Why attend CAL II?

  • Change in an organization used to be punctuated events. It took place as an event (e.g. reorganization) that was tied to a need to respond to a market shift. Today these events are continual. It’s important to understand that change is becoming a continuous need.

  • Expectations of customers and employees are often subtle and difficult to understand. Companies today need to acquire a different, more nuanced approach to product or service development and delivery.

  • Hyper-competition and a shortening product or service adoption curve increases the pressure on organizations to maximize the profitability and value of current offerings while seeking new opportunities in parallel. This requires the capability to prevent missed opportunities as well as conflict and misunderstandings within the organization.

Who is the Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) accreditation II for?

If you have already attended a Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) I workshop, and you are ready to learn more advanced techniques, share your experience, and collect valuable feedback about your approach, then you are ready for the Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) II accreditation.

CAL II isn't a simple one-class workshop, but it is a small program on its own. It includes advanced education, validated practice, and a peer-based sharing workshop that consists of learning and practice across all three categories of learning objectives.

Who can deliver the CAL II training?

Only the Scrum Trainers with the highest expertise can be approved to deliver the CAL program. The requirements for this are a combination of being a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), a Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC), and having a certification or accreditation in a recognized leadership development program, as well as having proven leadership development skills.

Why agile42?

Although the CAL courses are standardized by using the same framework and learning objectives, each program will be different in the way that it is taught by the instructor.

At agile42 we were among the first to be approved to deliver the CAL program. We have taken the framework of the program, mixed it with our unique concept for accelerated learning as well as our years of experience in delivering leadership training to develop a highly interactive program that gives you unique opportunities for peer interaction and practical experience.

With agile42 you will achieve the CAL 2 credential by completing the following:

1. Advanced Education

Attend the 3-day Advanced Education package which will cover all three learning categories:

CAL2 learning categories

2. Validated Practice

Create an Experience Report to document and share your experiences plus learnings on all three learning categories.

3. Peer Workshop

Participate in the Peer Workshop to share and present findings from the Experience Report.

Learning Category 1: Leadership in an Agile Context

Focused on both knowledge and practice, this 1-day workshop will allow you to increase self-awareness and establish a deeper understanding of your role as an Agile Leader. You will learn how to read and respond to situational context, and to create an environment necessary for your organization to thrive.

Learning Category 2: The Agile Organization

This 1-day workshop focuses on organizational design built around the five ORGANIC agility® principles and the concept of organizational resilience. Using a case study to understand the complexities and pressures of an organization, you will apply the principles to identify and navigate through different challenges. You will also learn how to build capabilities within the team and in the organization, which ultimately changes your organizational structure and culture.

Learning Category 3: Agile Approaches to Change

This 1-day workshop focuses on how organizations evolve organically. You will learn how to build the capability for change through two areas: (1) usage of metrics to visualize the change, manage obstacles and identify where to focus your efforts -and- (2) shift in mindset of what leadership looks like. Using real-life case studies, you will discover why and how agile change can permeate an organization.

Summary of CAL 2 Requirements

  • Prerequisite: CAL I credential (from any approved provider)

  • Completion of the 3-day Advanced Education program

  • A written Experience Report that addresses all three Advanced Education topics

  • Attend a Peer Workshop to share learnings from the Experience Report

Q: What is the refund policy? (Note: Please disregard the Refund Policy set out by Eventbrite. Refer to our refund policy listed below.)

If we receive your request to cancel no later than 10 days prior to the class, you will receive a 100% refund of the ticket fees and taxes, minus the Eventbrite payment processing and service fees (2.5% + $8). If we receive your request less than 10 days prior to the class, you will not be eligible for any refund. At that time, however, you will still be able to transfer or reschedule your registration.

Q: Can I reschedule to a different class date?

If you would like to reschedule (i.e. transfer your registration to a different class date), we can do that for you as follows:

  • If the class to which you are transferring has a higher ticket price, you will need to pay the difference in price. If the class has a lower ticket price than what you originally paid, you would be eligible to receive the difference returned to you.

  • If you notify us no later than 10 business days prior to the class and it's your first time rescheduling this particular registration, there will be no transfer fee. If you reschedule the same registration more than once, we will charge an additional 20% fee for each rescheduling after the first time.

  • If you notify us less than 10 business days prior to the class, we will charge an additional 10% fee if it is the first time you are rescheduling this particular registration. If the same registration needs to be rescheduled more than once, we will charge an additional 20% fee for each rescheduling after the first time. Transfer requests can only be accommodated up to 2 business days before the class.

Q: Is my registration/ticket transferrable to another person?

Please notify us and this can be done at any time free of charge.

If agile42 has to cancel a class for any reason, you will receive a 100% refund.

Q: Do I have to bring anything with me to the class?

Leave your laptop at home and bring a pen and a smile. You will be provided with a workbook.

Disclaimer: agile42 reserves the right to change the venue or cancel any course for reasons including, but not limited to, trainer illness or bad weather. In the event of cancellation, we will offer a transfer to a different course or a refund.
