We are please to announce a new 8 week season of CaFE during which we'll be presenting "Catholicism 201". CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration) was successfully launched in August 2006 at Our Lady of Mercy (Kloof) as a follow-up to the Alpha Course.
Who is CaFE for?
CaFE helps people of all ages in a relaxed, welcoming 'cafeteria' style atmosphere to explore their faith by learning, sharing and praying together. CaFE is designed to inspire and empower regular church-goers and also inform those exploring the faith in a modern and non-threatening manner.
What is this new CaFE season about?
CaFE invites you to explore "Catholicism 201"! Alhrough countless numbers of Catholics throughout the world have discovered the great gift of the Alpha Course, you don't need to have done the Alpha Course to benefit from CaFE. Catholicism 201 arose out of the need for a Catholic follow-up after the last Alpha talk ("What about the Church"). Catholicism 201 is modeled after the Alpha Course and inspired by it and covers the following topics:
1) One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church
2) Sacraments of Initiation
3) The Eucharist
4) Sacraments of Healing
5) Sacraments of Vocation
6) Mary and the Saints
7) Introduction to Christian Morality
8) The Thorny Issues
The last CaFE event will be held on 15th December 2016.
What 's the format of the event?
The format is simple: You'll be joining a table-group with whom you'll share a meal in our 'cafeteria', then you'll listen to a talk, which is followed by a discussion.
Each table will have a leader who will co-ordinate the "logistics" for the table (meal, beverages, tidying-up, etc.) and will be informed about the topic, in order to initiate and guide the discussions.
What is the group/table size?
There will be eight (8) people per table .. nine (9) max. However, if there is an Alpha Group or a Cell Group that is larger, we'll make a plan. Contact us, so we can help you with the booking.
What are my parking options at the event?
The gated parking lot of the church is available. Gates will open 20 minutes before the evening starts and remain closed for the duration of the event.
What can I bring to the event?
Each table provides their own meal and beverages ("bring & share"). Your table leader will contact you to make arrangements.
