Understanding and Planning for Long Term Recovery

and Recent Santa Clara County Disaster Events

Join us for this informative session and learn about the resources that often times come into play after a disaster to help our communities recover.  Hear from our State’s Voluntary Agencies Liaison, Lidia Armas, which agencies and faith based organizations have been involved in past disasters, what they do post-disaster and how their resources are utilized  to assist disaster-affected clients.

Learn what other disaster affected communities have done to guide the response and relief activities transition to a coordinated system designed to help community members with long term recovery from a catastrophic event.  Dialogue with others about how, for example, the recent Coyote Creek Flooding event uncovered needs that still exist and what part your agency/city department has in helping community members recover from this disaster.

This session is aimed at helping government representatives better understand and strengthen the planning for more effective service coordination.

Session objectives will enable participants to learn:

1) What national and local organizations do to help with a community's Long Term Recovery

2) What other communities have done to to address long term recovery needs and where they turned to for leadership and resources to assist with these efforts

3) Where your organization/city department/agency can contribute as part of what may be needed for recent disasters that have impacted the Santa Clara County community

Here’s your chance to gain valuable insight and education and be part of networking conversations to prepare and strengthen our community’s ability to respond to an emergency or disaster event.

CADRE is a network of non-profit and faith based organizations that have specific disaster roles or that want to learn more about the impacts of disasters and how to assist when needs arise.  CADRE works closely with Santa Clara County's emergency management community to strengthen disaster preparedness, response and relief efforts.

CADRE is the local affiliate for Northern California's Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and serves as the coordinating entity for Santa Clara County to connect with both the statewide and National VOAD network.

Disaster preparedness is an important focus of CADRE.  Grant funded workshops on relevant topics are presented on a regular basis at no cost to participants.  CADRE also supports individual organization preparedness.
