IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP ON THE OTHER EVENTBRITE DO NOT SIGN UP AGAIN.

Time and date

The Cadet Wing Conference will be from 6pm on Friday October 6th until Sunday October 8th at 10am.

Location

The event will take place on Joint Base Elmendorf – Richardson. The classes will be at the Elmendorf education center and the banquest at the lake front hotel in midtown off base. Cadets will get on base from the Boniface Gate for pick up and drop off. Cadets nees to arrive between 5pm and 530pm at the boniface gate. This may be individually or with your squadron however your DCC must know which option you are chosing and relay that to Lt Bratton. Deputy Commanders for Cadets (DCC) will be the representitive from each squadron in questions on getting on base. Cadets under the age of 16 need only their CAP ID. Cadets over 16 will need their government issued ID (military, drivers) as well as their CAP ID. If you are a cadet who has base access due to dependant status please note that when applying or let your chain of command know.

Payment Details

The cost will be $10 for Friday evening, $30 for the conference itself, and $30 for the banquet. The conference fee is for lodging, and the banquet for food none of the fees represent any income for the Alaska Wing. It is in order to cover expenses the cadet will incure. Squadrons may sponsor their cadets which is recommended for multi-cadet families. Cadets may also ask for financial assistance through their chain of command.

Safety

Cadets will be required to stay at the Air Force Inn lodging on both Friday and Saturday night regardless if they live in the anchorage bowl or not. The booking will be done by the Wing Director of Cadet Programs and ready for cadets upon arrival, so no action is required by the cadet. Staying at the Inn IS MANDATORY unless an email from a parent is sent directly to Lt Bratton (elizabeth.bratton@akwg.cap.gov) with an extenuating circumstance distribing why the cadet cannot stay. This is for the overall safety and accountability of the cadets.

Logistics

There will be five permanent party senior members overseing the cadets. Transportation to and from the banquet and all activities within the weekend will be provided. As the cadets will be staying in lodging no bedding is required to be brought. Snacks, water, dinner on Friday evening, breakfast and lunch on Saturday will be provided as well as snacks on Sunday morning. IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY OR FOOD PREFERENCE NOTE IT UPON APPLICATION.

Activities during the Conference

A schedule will be distributed by email and on the “Alaska Wing Civil Air Patrol Cadets” Facebook page. However cadets can expect both leadership, aerospace topics as well as guest speakers. There will be mild PT as well as possibly a bowling night on Friday evening. This is a relaxed event and not an encampment atmosphere. However all cadets will still be required to use their customs and courtesies at all times. Friday evening will be a fun night, Saturday Educational, Saturday evening for the Banquet will be formal, and Sunday Morning will be relaxed.

Communication

Cadets will have to put their phones away during classes and the banquest. However their phones will not be taken away at any time so parents can still freely communicate. Parents are more than welcome to directly call Lt Elizabeth Bratton with any concerns that may arise.

Uniforms

Friday evening: Casual civilian clothing.

Saturday: Blues class B, this is short sleeve blues no tie or long sleeve blues with tie. But no service jackets. The light weight blues coat is reccomended due to weather.

Saturday Evening: Blues Class A, this is either shirt length, with tie and service coat. If you do not have a service jacket get with your DCC to get one. However if you still do not have one in time long sleeve blues with the tie will be excepted. If you are a newer cadet and do not have a long sleeve/tie or service jacket. Wear formal civilian clothing, to include dress pants, button up shirt, tie, and suit jacket. Please ensure proper hygine and that all clothing is ironed/steamed and CLEAN.

Ladies may wear a modest appropriate dress should they desire, as this is a very formal event ladies dress standards are as follows: Must be floor ankle or floor length, must not show cleavage, will not be extreamly tight fitted. Use good judgement, would you wear it if your grandmother was coming? If you can confidently say no to that then chose another outfit. Shoes, accessories, and hair style are at the discression of the cadet. Keep it classy ladies.

Sunday: PT gear required what ever the pt standard is for your squadron is allowable. Generally this is shorts/sweat pants, a tshirt and sweatshirt, and good running shoes.

*SAFTEY IS KEY- Please bring the appropriate jacket, hats, gloves that go with the uniform you have on. If you do not have the proper weather gear you may be excluded from certain outdoor activities. I would rahter you bring a civilian warm jacket than nothing because you don’t have a uniform jacket, but please work with you Deputy Commander of Cadets and seniors to find the correct uniform items if possible. For guidance see CAPM 39-1.

Forms and Administration

A CAP form 31 is required for this event to be either emailed to Lt Bratton or hand carried by the cadet to be turned in upon arrival. No cadets will be allowed at the activity with out one per CAP regulations. As such if your cadet does not turn in this form they will be sent home.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please talk to your local DCC. Parents I would encourage the same however my door is always open and if you have an issue that is not being addressed contact me at elizabeth.bratton@akwg.cap.gov
