The CABLE CIT BASIC course is a 16-hour interactive training for Public Safety professionals.
The course will prepare participants to:
- recognize and respond to various behavioral health conditions including trauma.
- respond to all crisis situations within the public sector with enhanced communication and connection tools.
- understand special communication, and de-escalation practices to defuse potentially volatile situations.
- develop strategies for partnering with mental health mobile crisis teams who can follow up on calls to ensure that an individual is offered services. These partnerships are critical to reducing the number of law enforcement calls for service and recurring emergency room visits.
The course is structured into TWO sequential 8-hour modules from 8:00 am-4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 and Tuesday, March 9, 2021. The cost is $125 per person.

This training is limited to law enforcement officers, other public safety personnel within Connecticut, and members of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Mobile Crisis Teams only.
Additional specialized distance learning and in-person training modules will be available as well as monthly opportunities for building and sustaining crucial police/mental health partnerships.
