Welcome to our Cabinet of Curiosi-Teas program. This program is designed to help you to continue your tea education in the company of other tea enthusiasts.
The Cabinet is a group tasting session that is limited in attendance. This second session in the series will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
We will taste a curated collection of high quality African teas from a specialty vendor, JusTea, a tea company out of Canada who is working directly with Kenyan farmers to grow and process high quality orthodox loose leaf teas. We will taste 4 teas, including a rare purple tea! You will taste the teas at the session and go home with enough tea to make at least another 2 cups (8 ounces each), not including any resteeps you may try. In addition, there will be an assortment of snacks provided to go along with the teas you will taste.
As we taste the teas and discuss them, we will also learn about tea flavor wheels, explore our tasting vocabularies and discover how experiencing teas with others impacts how you personally experience a tea.
This is a bargain - some of these teas are not available directly from the merchants in sample sizes so you'd have to spend a lot more just to try something that you aren't sure you'd even like. This way you get to see the tea being prepared, learn more about the tea and the region of origin, taste and discuss with other tea enthusiasts and take some home to try out your own steeping parameters. Then if you decide that you like a tea, you can go directly to the merchant online and confidently purchase more to enjoy for months to come!
Cupping sets will be provided for use during the workshop but are NOT included in the registration price. You may purchase a set after the session if you wish to do so. Any remaining tea may also be purchased at that time as well.
As a part of our continuing eduction series, each mini-event you attend in 2017 will get you one (1) entry into a drawing for the Ultimate Tea Lover's Festival Package. This prize will include tickets to the 2017 Midwest Tea Festival on September 9 & 10, 2017 as well as other tea related items! Please see the News page of the main Midwest Tea Festival website for details on this prize drawing.
